Dutch Bros. A different vibe

Dutch Bros. Coffee, The coolest coffee in the room.

Dutch Bros. Coffee Company has definitely climbed to the top of the heap of coffee choices here in the pacific northwest. When I first moved to Oregon back in 2011, I was immediately made aware of their cult-like popularity because it seemed like every back window of every car had one of their stickers, some had multiple. Being from the east coast I was confused why people would be so in love with a drive-thru coffee place...Then I tried it and I too became hooked! It was more than the coffee, which had cool names, flavor combinations for me it was the vibe! Young, overly happy employees playing loud music, The small coffee hut had like 6 employees in it, and at first sight, you would think that was too many but you quickly realize they are having a blast in there and I felt very much apart of that experience. This is what makes Dutch Bros. unique they make coffee cool, so cool in fact that they have endless merch options that people can't seem to get enough of from shirts to mugs and travel mugs, their customers go nuts for it and this creates a buzz that is unmatched by any other coffee chain in the PNW. They are obviously very good at brand awareness and know how to market the brand in a cool way.

Dutch Bros is also very good at social media marketing they use bright colors, cool pictures and they post a lot. each of the coffee stands also have their own individual social media pages each one offering unique and creative posts that connect to their customer base in their local area, making you feel apart of the team in a way because you may see your favorite barista in a post or two so it doesn't feel "corporate". Unlike other major brands on social media Dutch Bros. fans engage with the posts as well

Here is a cool post about their most popular flavor.
and this is how their customers react

Dutch Bros. loves their customers and their customers love them. They have a culture that is unmatched, so much so that if you want to buy a piece of the franchise you must be hired on as a barista and work in that position for a minimum of 1 year before the company will consider bringing you on as a franchise owner because they will not allow anyone to disrupt the vibe they have built so if you don't buy into that culture then they don't want you. If I was their brand manager (and I would love to work on their marketing team) I would just expand upon the party atmosphere...even brighter colors, louder music and more merch for everyone.

Fitness & A Global Pandemic: How Quarantine Caused a Home Gym Explosion and Flipped the Fitness Industry on It's Head.

Fitness & A Global Pandemic

How Quarantine Caused a Home Gym Explosion and Flipped the Fitness Industry on It's Head.

I am an adaptive Crossfit coach so when the pandemic hit back in back in March of 2020 people started hoarding everything they could. We saw how all of the toilet paper disappeared from the store shelves along with hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes and bottled water just to name a few. When the shutdowns started rolling out gyms were hard hit, people who rely on a daily fitness routine were displaced and the only back up plan was to stock up on things like dumbells, kettlebells, jump ropes and resistance bands, but to my shock and amazement, the hoarders had come for that too! Wow, how was this possible? Where were all of these people when the gyms were open and only half full I asked myself? Why did everyone collectively decide to stay at home and get fit when just a few months prior it seemed like the world was full of excuse-makers and procrastinators? I was not the only one put back on their heels by this sudden demand for fitness equipment, Many equipment manufactures and distributors scrambled to meet demand with many falling short not to mention meeting shipping times when they themselves had no employees available to get the work done. Many companies saw massive gains in sales: Nordictrack was up 300% eBay reported a 1000% uptick in dumbbell and weight plate sales, Peleton was up 30%  money was flowing in but no one could keep up with the demand. The industry was in BIG trouble. Click here to read

What a position to be in as a manufacture or distributor in this industry? Every business owner's dream is to have more business than they can handle...until it literally happens. Many equipment companies reported that with their #1 customer, gym owners no longer having a need to order equipment this also created big problems. Sales are up but revenue is down

It must be time to pivot from a marketing standpoint companies will now have to change course and aim their efforts at stay-at-home moms and dads whereas in the past the target audience was fitness enthusiasts. And how do they plan to do this? with social media of course. 11 companies that are crushing it during COVID-19

5 fitness brands winning social media. When you read through this article you see one common trend, Gym and coaches using social media platforms to show people how to get fit with minimal space and equipment, no big bulky treadmills or giant squat racks...just a few dumbells, a yoga mat some floor space and an entire industry that had to shift from big box gyms to livingroom and garages.

My 1st BA223 Marketing Blog post.

WHO AM I?

 Hello readers,

For my 1st BA223 blog post I thought I'd take the time to introduce myself and tell you a little about who I am and the journey I'm on.

My name is Ryan, I'm 42, I'm originally from upstate New York but before I moved to Oregon in 2012 I previously lived in Ft. Sill Oklahoma as well as Atlanta Georgia. I have 3 teenage boys and a 24-year-old stepson, I got divorced in 2014 after 16 years of marriage. I was also born with Cerebral Palsy. Some other interesting facts about me; I am a full-time online reseller on platforms like Amazon FBA, eBay as well as others, and I sell print on demand T-shirts.

I am a business major for the simple fact that I really enjoy making my own money so I decided getting a formal education in business would only serve to benefit me even more. The thing that I enjoy most about marketing is the endless creative ideas that you can deploy to get people to buy what you are selling. I am a huge fan of social media marketing so I am looking forward to learning more about it.

The thing that I am most passionate about in life is Crossfit! I started Crossfit in 2018 after believing for most of my life that I wasn't capable of doing such things because of my disability. I was overweight, had high blood pressure as well as high cholesterol and my doctor told me I could continue to do nothing and probably have a heart attack or I could find some way to exercise. I bounced around a few "big box" gyms for about a year but I became pretty frustrated because there wasn't much I could do on my own with my limited mobility but I was determined to find something so after some research I stumbled upon this thing called "Adaptive CrossFit" I found a Crossfit gym and by day 3 I was hooked! In 2019 I competed in a global online competition called the "wheelwod open" and finished 9th in the world. I have also completed MURPH twice which is a workout named after Lt. Michael Murphy who was killed in Afganistan. The workout consists of a 1-mile run followed by 100 push-ups, 200 pull-ups, 300 air squats followed by another 1 mile run all while wearing a 20lbs. weight vest. This summer I officially became a Crossfit coach and I now coach other adaptive athletes who have similar limitations just like me.
